As a rule, block paving benefits from re-sealing every 2 to 3 years, depending on traffic and how exposed it is. A well-sealed drive keeps its colour, resists stains and stops sand washing out of the joints — our Protect and Complete Care plans keep the seal topped up every year so it never lapses.
Yes — sealing locks the kiln-dried sand in place, dramatically slows weed and moss regrowth, repels oil and tyre marks, and keeps the colour looking fresh. It also makes future cleans quicker and cheaper, so a sealed drive usually costs less to maintain over its life than an unsealed one.
A typical domestic driveway is a one to two-day job — clean and re-sand on the first day, seal once the surface is fully dry. The paving must be dry before sealing, so we plan around the forecast; sealant then needs roughly 4 to 6 hours before light foot traffic and 24 hours before you park on it.
Not when it's done correctly. We use rotary surface cleaners at a controlled pressure that lifts dirt without eroding the block face or blasting out the jointing sand. That's exactly why we always re-sand afterwards — proper cleaning naturally disturbs some joint sand, and we replace it as part of the job.
Both. Cleaning removes what's on the surface, but we also apply a biocide treatment that kills weeds, moss and algae at the root. Combined with re-sanded, sealed joints, this keeps regrowth away for far longer than a jet wash on its own.
